Case Studies
Proven Performance. Documented Results.
At United Contracting Services (UCS), we measure success by the results we deliver—and the timeframes we deliver them in. Our case studies demonstrate how experience, innovation, and a commitment to doing it right the first time help our clients avoid delays, reduce costs, and stay ahead of schedule.
While our work often speaks for itself, the stories below offer insight into how we consistently outperform expectations.
Delivering Under Pressure When Others Failed
Client Situation:
A client initially requested quotes from multiple vendors, including UCS, for a complex industrial project involving two TOs. Despite UCS’s competitive bid, the client chose a different vendor due to concerns about UCS size.
The Problem:
Shortly after, the selected vendor failed to deliver. Their work included adding refractory material that made the system too heavy, causing the shell to cave in. The situation was urgent—the client needed the entire job redone within two weeks.
UCS Solution:
UCS stepped in immediately, accepted the challenge, and completed the job on time—in just two weeks. Not only was the work executed flawlessly, but UCS’s speed and precision also earned the trust of the client.
The Result:
UCS was awarded additional work as a direct result of their performance, responsiveness, and ability to correct a failed project under a tight deadline.
Reclaiming a Stalled Project from a Vendor in Over Their Head
Client Situation:
A customer came to UCS with a stalled project that had been stuck with a vendor in California for two years. The project had seen little progress, and the client was under pressure to get it completed.
The Problem:
After two years of delay and zero results, the client turned to UCS to salvage the situation. The clock was ticking—they needed the project finished within six months. Over 70%of the promised materials for the job were missing.
UCS Solution:
UCS evaluated the incomplete work, developed a plan, and committed to an accelerated timeline that would meet the client’s expectations. In order to accomplish the task UCS fabricated the missing equipment (21 large skids).
The Result:
By taking ownership of the project and providing the execution and accountability the previous vendor lacked, UCS restored the client’s confidence and kept the project moving forward.
Turning Around a Delayed Piping Installation at the Inola Paper Mill
Client Situation:
CS played a pivotal role in the construction of the Inola Paper Mill, a major industrial project led by Sofidel. While Sofidel oversaw the mechanical assembly of the facility, UCS was tasked with supporting key infrastructure components—most notably, the water treatment systems and piping installation for the plant’s two primary machines.
The Problem:
INDEXA initially contracted UCS to manage the water treatment plant installation. At the same time, another contractor was hired to install 150,000 square feet of piping. However, after several months of work, the project began to fall seriously behind schedule due to poor performance and inefficiencies by the original piping contractor.
UCS Solution:
UCS was brought in to assist with the piping installation and eventually assumed full control of the work. They reorganized the approach, addressed logistical challenges, and accelerated the installation process to bring the project back on track.
The Result:
UCS completed the piping installation efficiently and helped restore momentum to the overall project. Their ability to step in midstream, troubleshoot issues, and manage large-scale infrastructure highlighted their versatility and reliability.
Conclusion:
This case underscores UCS’s strengths in project management, technical execution, and solving problems under pressure—proving them to be a dependable partner for high-stakes industrial construction.
